Updating to 2.0 problems

<br><br>Unknown error? I think I know the error! I think Droogie was right and the Apple servers are being over loaded.<br><br>Between that issue and the slowness of this forum software, I'm having a tough morning!<br><br>I think it may be time step away form the computer.<br><br>

Reading over at TUAW, it sounds like Apple's iTunes servers are getting hammered and they can't activate as many iPhones at the stores like they thought.<br><br>I agree, they should have staggered out the releases.<br><br><br><br>my photos

The new update has made my iPhone as useful as a Zune as a matter of fact a Zune functions better than my iBrick.<br>I cant even call SJ up and cuss his ass out or listen to my iTunes or my movies and I really miss my pOrn movie <br><br> My Ultimate Amazing Crap !

I can't even find evidence of a 2.0 update!!! I keep checking through both Software Update and also through iTunes, and it keeps telling me there is no update.. that 1.1.4 is the current version! Anyone got the answer?<br><br>

I just spoke with Apple iPhone Tech Support... the servers are so jammed the update will not work even if you manually download the 2.0 software -- which I tried... DOH! -- and try and install it that way. <br><br>The tech guy said it doesn't matter how you download it, considering the iPhone updates must always access Apple servers for activation info (a little paranoid there, Apple?), the update will not work. He also stated Apple is having software-related server errors of their own and they will not be resolved for a couple of hours! <br><br>Nothing wrong with your iPhone or updates... there are MAJOR problems on Apple's end. <br><br>I hate to say I told you so, but... me.com is also loading more quickly now. Apple is not just updating and authorizing 19 countries this time. This time, they are doing it for 79 different countries. Not even Apple has enough server capacity for those kinds of numbers. <br><br>They should have known better than this, boneheads! This is one hell of an oversight, regardless of circumstances which may have been "overlooked."<br><br>iPhone Tech Support said it will be [at least] until after 7:00 pm EST (10:00 pm west coast) until existing iPhone users can even begin to succesfully download/install a working 2.0 update.<br><br>I was just notified -- for the first time, via iTunes -- a new version of iPhone software (2.0) was available or my iPhone. But when I tried to update (again) I got that same error message (again), it bricked my iPhone (again), and I had to do yet another restore again. <br><br>I give up until later tonight EST! I have 2 iPhones sitting on the shelf at the dealer. They have been there since 8:30 AM EST. The cell company server is overwhelmed and they can't even do the billings before proceeding to try and activate the phones. It's been one crazy &$(#$* day but nuttin' I can do about it except wait patiently for a call to come pick up my new iPhone. Maybe tonight, probably tomorrow. <br><br>

Aw, Marge, I'm sorry... I know how it is waiting to activate/use a new iPhone. Seriously! <br><br>I had to wait for more than a day to use my shiny new iPhone when they were launched last year. I purchased mine at an Apple Store in a town I was doing some session (studio) work in. I couldn't wait until I got home to purchase because I was afraid they'd run out of 8 GB models. I was told AT&T were authorizing people's iPhone's via telephone support -- for certain locations. Boy was that wrong!<br><br>I thought it rather rude of Apple not allowing you to even play around with the new iPhone before activating... only allowing an intro screen and 1 emergency call.<br><br>So more than a day later I finally got home and activated mine. The resulting anxiety was almost overwhelming. <br><br>Question: What's worse than not having an iPhone? <br>Answer: Having an iPhone but not being able to use it/play with it! <br><br>I definitely feel your pain on this one.
