iOS 9 Wi-Fi assist may eat up data. - 11/02/15 05:08 PM

It seems there is a new feature in 9 that will switch your data to your cell signal if it detects that the wi-fi signal is weak. I had not heard of it till today.

Seems some are suing Apple for not making it clear what it does.

Wi-Fi assist.

I have been prompted several times to switch. Calling from my house where I have never had a connection issue. Each time it prompts I look at my signal. 2 bars/circles. WTF?
Also be aware of issues with 911 calls.

Yeah, 911 calls from cell phones are hit or miss anyway. They don't give exact locations like on TV. smirk

If the call center happens to have the technology they can only get within 200 ft or so of where you are.

Which is why you are required to give an exact address in order to turn on wifi calling. Not that this helps if you aren't home.

I think it also depends on where you live and your coverage. Here, my phone knows where I am within a few feet. Seems like they should have access to that info. If my Maps can tell where I am... then the phone should be made so they can access that info too.
