So how many jumped on 4S ??

I ordered a 32 GB this AM around 8 o'clock. Went for the 32 GB because the photos and video will be substantially larger than my old 3GS.

Also a friend here showed me how I could get $105 back from Apple by recycling my 3GS. So my net cost is only $200. Not bad.

Anyone else jump ??

I ordered the 16GB today. This is replacing a 16 GB 3G. I even still had the old unlimited data plan that I had to change. I mainly am interested in the camera and faster processor. I only filled up 1/3 of the 16GB in three years so I should think I will be good to go.

I will almost be up-to-date. I have a new iPad 2 but still need to upgrade to Lion.

Are they making you drop that because a new phone?

I insisted on not dropping my unlimited when i signed for the 4G.. and they gave it to me.

DLC... used 16 GB 3Gs are going for just under 200 on Ebay.
But you have to move fast....prices will drop in a week or so.

I did the ATT upgrade online and it did not give me a choice. I have never gone over the 2GB limit and that plan will still save me some money so I am okay with it.

I jumped. Went all-out and ordered he 64 gig. I don't treat myself to much, but I do make it happen when it comes to Apple stuff.

I went for the big one because I like access to as much of my music as possible whenever I want it. Though my whole library won't fit on the device to be shipped next week, MOST of it will.

I'll be happy to bump my home network from 802.11.b/g (which my 3GS demands) to 802.11.N. That'll make my Apple TV hiccup less.

Also-- can't wait to see how much the camera will be an improvement over the 3GS!

Huge.. really.. I mean the 4G was a huge improvement so the 4Gs will be even better.
The 4G had a 5 element lens and the 4Gs has a 7? ...something like that..plus more megapixels.
Not too mention the low light capabilities were vastly improved.

I made this available a while back and thought you might appreciate it.
I uploaded the 20 minute 720p video I shot at a Rush concert earlier this year.
Beware, it's 1.6 GB.
The video is pretty damn good for a camera phone and the sound is decent also.
The low light improvements over the 3 series is verrry noticeable.

Edit: I chopped the file down.. too much time uploading... it's now about 3 minutes and 240 MBs.

That's very low light recording.... it does an amazing job in sunlight.

In a few minutes look for a clip of my adopted daughter playing in a water park...

And if I showed you a clip of her from the previous year on a 3Gs you would just laugh at the quality difference.
Honestly.. I would be hard pressed to distinguish it from a decent full on camcorder.
To me.. that justifies the cost alone. I have a hi-def camcorder at all times in my pocket.. ready to go.

And the video quality is superb. I was viewing those clips on a 27 inch screen and theory looked sensational. Amazing times we're living in!

Of course I have a high end Canon camcorder too... It does 1080p and has better quality of course.. but still... for a phone...Bwahahahahahahaaaaa....

I tried pre-ordering and converting my number from AT&T to Verizon, and the site did not like that *at all* -- told me I had to go into an Apple Store to complete the set-up. Of course, the Apple Store folks told me to come back on the 14th ... so poo ...

In other news, it looks like your phone will be locked to your provider at purchase and it remains to be seen if you can ever unlock it (er ... "legally") to switch providers ... between these guys and the cable companies, the rules they make for these things seem more and more like arcane, hallucinogen-induced rituals than anything a non-initiate can understand ...

Wonder why mine appears to be "grandfathered" and others are not? I did join in 2007 when the iPhone 1 came out.

What did you do with your .v1 iPhone?

I am keeping my 3G as an iPod for wireless around the home.

iPhone 1 (2007) It died about 2+ years after I got it, and I bought my current 3GS.

FYI a friend of mine who just got an iPhone at the end of the Unlimited period a few years ago but he got to keep his Unlimited plan. When he went to AT&T to order the 4S, it tried to switch him out of it of that plan, but at Apple.com he had to choice to keep it.

Anyone else heard of this ??

I went through ATT and I did not have a choice to keep my unlimited plan.

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't AT&Ts way to say "Gotcha" !!

Phone delivered about two hours ago. Still hadn't been able to activate it. AT&T's servers are being overwhelmed.

Serves me right for being impatient.

Not a great pic but I finally got home and am updating the new 4s. It is next to my 3g with the iSkin revo cover. I bought a new revo cover for the 4s...the one on my 3g was perfect for me.

Huge difference just in the feel between the two. I should be about ready to activate soon.

Stood in line this morning and got two -- one for mom and one for moi + switched from AT&T to a Verizon family plan. Apparently, that I already had a mobile hotspot account with Verizon threw a wrench in the in-store activation, although it eventually worked out ... two hours later =P

Setting stuff up on the new phone and am about to take the plunge into iCloud! =D

I was able to activate via ATT without a hitch last night.

The 4s is a huge upgrade from a 3g...I would say close to going from a G4 to a new Intel.

I also upgraded iOS 5 and my phone without a hitch, BUT having trouble with Siri- can't "find server" ??

Siri has been back up and functional for me the last couple days. Hopefully they have the kinks worked out now. I'm having a blast with it.
