Heeeelllppp!!!!!!!

I was washing m hands when m ipod slipped into the sink. I swichted off as soon as a pulled it out (1 second afetr) and the screen sarted to flicker when it powered down What should i do?

Unfortunately I don't think Apple will repair water-damaged iPods. There is this little adhesive thing inside that detects if the iPod has been immersed in water.

But...you can always try to see if they'll repair it.

Or you could let it sit for awhile with it off and let it dry out and see if it'll work.

Let it sit for a while and dry out, it may come back to life. The iPod of a friend of mine accidentally fell into the pool. He retrieved it right away and after it had dried out it worked again. Even tho' the iPods are NOT waterproof , they're pretty tightly sealed except for those ports etc, and it takes a while for water to seep in. If it doesn't come back to life, I'm afraid your iPod has had it. Apple will not repair it and the repairs are pretty costly!

I'm sorry to hear that - not the best way to sync your ipod . I hope it recovers, given long enough to dry out.

Be patient! Let it dry out for a few hours....perhaps even overnight! Some of the contacts may still be wet. When you 'fished' it out of the water, was there water leaking out of it?

I agree...let it sit for at least overnight. The longer the better.

To try and use it now might cause a short of some kind if water is still in there .

Patience. Set it aside and forget about it for at least 24 hours. I don't want to see another post here about it until 9pm Thursday at the earliest!

I did the same thing with my iPhone, I gave up on it and bought a blackberry. Apple wouldn't do anything about it , they looked at it just to verify it was water damaged thus no warranty.
After two weeks I couldn't stand the Blackberry anymore so I plugged it into the charger and all was good after it charged back up, still working fine maybe I'll make it till the the next version comes out. So just be Patient

Try to place it somewhere there is a small draft... preferably warm air. Moving air will suck out the moisture better.

Ok! It seems like sometimes the speaker works and sometimes it thinks there's headphones pluggedin when there's not.

When it stopped working was about 20 min. later... (afetr the 1s part of he vid) it came back since then. What's going on? Its no biggie, I was just wondering.

Just DO NOT stick that out in the sun to dry - maybe point a fan at the speaker port .

Just curious - how can it be both 'all good' and 'never the same'? Unless it wasn't working properly before you dunked it .

One thing most people don't know is that electronics usually work fine after dunked in water, as long as they're allowed to dry out. It's when you try to use them and they're not dry that things short out.

Avoid dunking in coffee with cream and sugar, though. Trust me on that.

Avoid dropping your electrotech in the toilet too. Trust me on that.

When my BF allowed his Mini to slip out of his pocket
into the bucket he uses to cool his welds in, it was
a total goner!

He'd been dunking hot metal in the water.. often coated
with cutting lubricant. Spilling coffee in the water..
spitting into it, and ducking cigarette butts.

He snatched it out in a fraction of a second, and turned
it off, locked it down & called me on his cellphone.

I shook it out, and allowed it to dry for over a week...
but the slop in got dunked it was a killer 4 sure.

Don't pour coffee or beer on your keyboard, either.

Or anything with sugar in it, like soda.

Nah.. you can do anything you like to a keyboard,,, even soda.
Immerse in de-ionized water and let soak for a while. Swirl to remove goo. Remove and let dry.
Good as new.

I'd also add that after dipping your electronic device in water, pouring rubbing alcohol over it can help speed drying.

True, but you have to watch as alcohol can damage or discolor plastic parts.
