water spilt on macbook keyboard - 12/07/06 05:58 AM

recently split water on the keyboard of my 15" macbook pro... i dried it off with the fan for a couple of hours. wen i first turned it on not all the keys on the keyboard were working correctly, so i decided to restart the computer.. now none of the keys on the keyboard work as well as wen i open any prgram that requires you to type it types by itself random continous letters such as "iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiioooooo 666666666666666666 eeeee".. and wont stop doin it.. and none of the volume and other feature bottons work.. actually none of the buttons work.. i was just wondering if anyone would know the problem of my computer and if theres a way to save my macbook pro.. any help would be appriciate, thank you so much

If you have a warrenty on it then have Apple fix it. If not then gohead and open up the system and clean each key and clean each contact on the keyboard with rubbing acohoal. If it doesn't work then try a new keyboard. If that doesn't work you can use a USB keyboard or buy a new system.

apple doesn't cover user error

you will have to eat the cost yourself.  call it education in not having liquids around computer hardware..

Of course, that depends whether or not you tell them. And whether they can tell.

MAybe it would be best to try out the system with a
USB keyboard first, so you can see if it's only the keyboard.
I know how this feels, really. I spilt grape juice in my keyboard,
which was already cranky because my sister had treated it to
a glass of Coke earlier.
I'm just amazed the MBP still works. Try dropping water on
an Acer Laptop or something. Sparks would fly.

Its amazing how many Mac laptops survive spillages. I took apart an iBook the other day to discover a puddle of something sticky had dried out in the bottom of it and there was corrosion on the logic and DC boards. Only issue it had was some non-functioning keys and a dodgy optical drive.
Saw a 12" PowerBook a while back which had a glass of Baileys (Irish Cream) poured through it. The keyboard was tacky to the touch, but the thing was 100% functional. Amazing.
