Touch Screen Drivers - 02/29/08 07:15 PM

I have been given an LCD touchscreen. I want to use it in a mod I have coming up, but there are some problems.

1) No noticeable Make/Model
2)The cable for the touch part is not usb, it's serial.

What are the chances of me being able to hook this thing up to an iBook running 10.3.9 and actually have it work?

I know I can get a serial to usb adapter, but I don't have any idea what to do about drivers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure about the drivers. That might be a little bit tricky considering that it has a serial cable, which means that the manufacturer doesn't expect it to be used with Macs and thus probably doesn't make a Mac driver for it. You can play around with Mac drivers from various companies and hopefully eventually come across one that will work. If you post a picture of it, maybe someone will recognize it and be able to tell you the brand. Also, you may want to ask this guy or someone here for driver help if you can find out their contact info.

There are touch screen drivers from Xenarc, Elo, and other companies.

Good luck! Be sure to let us know if you get it working.

Just do a search for touch screen drivers for OSx. It should work as long as the touch screen is USB compatible.
