Who wants a race war?

Who wants a race war? - 07/19/13 12:28 PM

While everyone has on opinion about the Rolling Stone cover … Drudge Report does this crap every single day. What's the act Drudge links to? A race war? Riots?

Quote:
To combat these larger social issues, President Obama offered three broad suggestions:

1. Get the Justice Department involved with training local governments to reduce mistrust in the legal system. (It's worth remembering that this episode started over an outcry that Zimmerman wasn't arrested at all in regards to the incident).

2. Examine local laws -- such as "Stand Your Ground" -- and see if they encourage "may encourage the kinds of altercations and confrontations and tragedies that we saw in the Florida case rather than diffuse potential altercations."

3. Think about ways to bolster and reinforce African American boys so they do not get caught up in the legal system (as the statistics indicate they are more likely to be).

But that's not the narrative that's smothering rightwing conservative racists ….Obama is promoting a race war. It's a headline and a photo, that's as far as it goes and the anger is stoked. What do Drudge readers think:

Quote:
PoliticalTees&More

obama only wants the race war to rage on... what is going to happen when the non blacks of this country say enough is enough?? I really think it will be civil unrest that obama-holder are really looing looking for. OBAMA THE GREAT DIVIDER!

update: seems The National Journal article linked closed and removed the reader comments, or they're editing out the racist BS the Drudge link produced

In Australia we refer to this as the advance of the nanny state.

I am not at all attributing this to Obama.
All politicians go by polls in defining how to play the game.
Media allows politicians to believe they run the game.

Here the media creates whatever fantasy they want to fit their anti-Obama, anti-government agenda. For a week now it has been hell bent to produce the "riots" that never happened.

Which is one time that the apathy in this country has been to the benifit..

Plus... it's just too damn hot to riot.

that and the fact that past riots
including the ones stirred by provocateurs)
have never done anything other than re-enforce
the negative stereotypes and dredge up further
fear, hatred & resentment.

Time to take a new tact.

If I give you the solution, will you pay?

Firstly, I stood down in deference because your argument about apathy and heat was unable to be arguable with.
So I also tossed in an example of your typo, possibly due to the effects of apathy and heat.. which you took umbrage to.. wink

htfu and smile. smile

It wasn't that hard to figure out, was it.

Pretty much like our friend padmavyuha,
the United Kingdom take delight in word play,
riddles, puzzles and double (often triple) entendres

That's why we Americans can only get a single
layer of "Monty Python's Flying Circus"...

They take delight in pushing the use of the
"English" language way beyond the envelope.

Parenthesis because even the language itself
is broken down into sub-sets that they ALL
insist is the Purest Form of..... w/e
Queen's English, Common English, Australian
English and American English...
"...and never the twain shall meet."

over-all
it's pretty harmless with no offense intended.

Not really, paddy does it in a non-malicious tone, to be funny or creative, he's not out to spar every post.

I do believe offense was intended, as in htfu?

Re: Who wants a race war? - 07/20/13 02:39 PM

Well, some folk interpret "htfu" as "Hurry the fück up". So maybe he's just impatient? wink blush grin

Re: Who wants a race war? - 07/20/13 02:56 PM

I'm still trying to figure out what htfu even means,

but due to the 12/14 hour time difference,
I'm not about to hold my breath.

Re: Who wants a race war? - 07/20/13 03:03 PM

Well Cel it's probably on some deeper layer of meaning that Americans can't ever fully grasp.

Htfu appears to mean "harden the fxck up". Sounds like something better placed in the "I'm above average" thread.

I enjoy the heck out of all the above....
I would leave it to the author to say "no harm intended"... thanks for the peace talks though. cool

Not as funny when the guy playing him has earlobes. My Aussie friends have shown me a number of Chopper parody clips. Must be that deeper layer of humor stuff beyond my ken because I just don't find it that funny. Could say the same for most SNL stuff too though.

If that's a way of telling a mate
to get tough enough to take a joke,
then it certainly applies.

I shouldn't be at all surprised since they
seldom mince words among themselves. wink

Re: Who wants a race war? - 07/20/13 04:17 PM

I have my fair share of Aussie friends (they are well represented in Japan) and the differences between them and in and amongst groups of them is as different as any other random set of human beings - and I never noticed them to mince words less or more among themselves or when not among themselves for that matter.

Good thing I have spent time with so many Australians or I might start to develop a prejudice as this AusMac guy does have much that distinctive holier than thou attitude about him as that other Aussie, "I will probably never speak to you any of you again" Treebeard.

Was that the time 23,000 people were dead & missing
while everyone here was wracking on about X-Mas swag?

If I recall, we hadn't gotten the news yet...
...but he had no way of knowing that.

I don't remember him saying much after being informed,
...but that didn't stop a 6 page gang-up on our part.

...That "Treebeard"?

That was only one instance, but yes that was the instance I was referring to.
