LOL.. I watched it on tv... quite disturbing.. and then amusing once you realize he's truly bonkers.
Piers did a good job of maintaining his calm.

Alex Jones - The Poster Boy for Background Checks to own guns !! grin

If he shoots a gun like he shoots his mouth off, he's a piss-poor shot. crazy

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/08/13 06:07 PM

He doesn't need no facts, either! Where have I heard that before?

Besides, with an AR-15 and a 100 round clip, he can shoot as much and as quickly as he wants. No need for accuracy! crazy

This man is a walking bomb ready to explode at any moment. He is what we should fear about having guns to protect yourself with this kind of deranged mind.

Thank your for this, I had been following Piers pretty closely, but had missed this. Some show what's his name put on.

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/09/13 04:28 AM

The crazy thing for me is that if the guy would just calm down, he had a few interesting things to say. It's all the gobbledy-gook in between. If he tried to act like he had a grip on sanity he might be worth listening to for a while.

The part at the end where he is mocking Piers' accent, WTF?

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/09/13 04:31 AM

I was at least pleasantly surprised to learn he is no fan of George W. Bush.

I don't see the comparison. Piers wasn't absent from the discussion.. he was trying to get a word in edge-wise.

Surprised? W wasn't even invited to the last national convention! He's about as popular among Republicans as he was among Democrats in 2000.

Well, I suspect Jones is a Libertarian, and they were not fans of W, either.

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/09/13 12:23 PM

Yeah, his wikipedia article says he political alignment is largely libertarian (which from his diatribes seems a good fit).

Not to defend the man, but Piers is not the best debater anyway - he could think of little better to say to the president of the NRA (who was being very civil despite what he might say) and called him a "stupid man" near the beginning of his exchange with him. Jones may have just been trying to go with all guns blazing, pardon the pun, to get his agenda across - however inane it is.

Of course, I have never listened to his show, he is likely always like that.

Alex... Alex... Alex...

Did anyone think that sounded just like someone talking to their inconsolable 3 year old?

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/09/13 02:15 PM

He was acting like a 3 year old.
That wasn't a discussion where you might actually hear what the other side has to say. His "points" were all over the board, you could tell he has conspiracy issues. Of course he's the type to want to hug all of his guns close to his chest.

Well he was sorta talking to a 3 year old laugh

I think the frustration between the two was on 2 points.

1 - Morgan points was on statistics <- however you cannot compared violent crime from a low population (England) to a much higher population like the US and then say it is directional to gun laws <- I disagree.

2 - Jones points was the 2nd amendment and that he feels the more guns the better. <- which I disagree , after all the right to bear arms intention was to (protect) your government (not) to fight against it.

Besides this day and age you can arm yourself with whatever you can buy - but to take on todays military you gatta be out of your mind. So taking this 2nd amendment (protecting myself from my own government) is shear stupidity to begin with.

IMO

Wikipedia tells me that the population density of all of the UK is 661.9 per square mile, whereas the population density of the whole of the US is 33.7 per square mile. By way of comparison, the population density of NY City is 27,012 per square mile, and of London 13,466 per square mile. Lots more high rises in NY. Chicago's density is more like London's, 11,864 per square mile, and Philly's is 11,457. Interestingly, LA's is 8,092.

Anyway, I wonder how relevant the size of the country is as opposed to the population density.

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/09/13 07:40 PM

Density has nothing to do with violent crime at all.

I guess Morgan could have used a statistic of (social) -vs- 100,000 thousand gun issues ?

For example;

Hawaii had I think just one gun incident last year - by contrast Chicago has a gun related death every 5 to 6 days = gang related depressed areas.

Anyway,
I feel that in (social) depressed areas they would seek out to get guns to be equal - as opposed to more affluent areas that feel the need to get guns to protect themselves from the depressed area societies ?

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/09/13 08:30 PM

I find it very hard to believe that population density has no connection to violence. I know for a fact that studies on rats (the link is to a very brief abstract only) indicate exactly the opposite: the denser the population, the more pathology there is among rats. This chart and map suggest that density and violence are very closely correlated. By the way, I think it's unfair to treat DC as if it were a whole state since the lower densities in the non-urban areas even in a place like NJ dilute the violence. DC is all urban all the time.

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/10/13 02:51 AM

It's rather obvious why Morgan and CNN had jones on the show.

They knew he would get into one of his rants. The purpose was to associate the second amendment folks as mad men.

The reason jones wanted to be on there was to get attention for hs own show. He is an entertainer.

It's pretty normal for one entertainer to have another entertainer as guest as it garners viewers for both. In this case, being Morgans show he controlled the result. Now if Morgan went on Jones show, Jones would control the outcome.

He is an entertainer like that phony Michael Savage with his rants and crazy concepts about Obama and the government against him all the time.Credit for Piers Morgan to keep his composure.

Yes... and also because the man had a petition to have him deported. Thankfully, the White House sees through such poo.

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/10/13 06:52 PM

Right MrB, thats pretty much it.

As talked about before , where does this 2nd amendment end ? ? the right to bear arms ? ? does that include improvised bombs , RPG's , Tanks ?

Maybe there needs to be a 3rd amendment since the 2nd one does not say (what) these right to bear arms are ? ?

The phrase "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State" is there for a reason ...
Posted by: yoyo52

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/10/13 10:32 PM

An interesting thing about "well regulated militia" is if you put that 2nd Amendment in the context of Article III, Section 3: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

Put the context in a proposition for debate: Resolved, that any citizen who uses his or her weapons against the United States commits treason.

Discuss.

Re: Alex Jones - absolutely insane! - 01/11/13 06:17 PM

I agree YoYo,

Thats the way I read it as well. Regulated militia means armed to protect their government and -not- their government enemies.

When you look at the context of why it was written in the first place.
The revolution , the Indian and the Spanish American wars were mostly (Militia)

Simply , farmers , settlers and hunters who brought their own guns and then joined a militia in times of war. That is a huge cost saving for a young Nation.

Anyway I believe the intent of the wording in the 2nd was just for that reason - sorta a cheap way to have what we call today the (Army Reserves) was certainly not meant that every citizen can arm themselves to fight their own government but rather mainly for personal protection.
