Pain findings... - 03/16/11 12:04 AM

I thought that was quite interesting that whilst women enjoy sex less they feel pain more than men... you would think with the pain of childbirth that women would be better adapted than men for enduring pain? cry

And the article is about a study about pain, not sex:

Quote:
Women feel pain more than men, scientists say after studying brain scans

By Jenny Hope
Last updated at 8:12 AM on 16th March 2011

The long-running battle of the sexes over who feels the most pain has been won.

Sophisticated brain scans show that women have more intense responses to pain than men.

The reaction from the stronger sex is concentrated in parts of the brain involved in pain avoidance, according to new research.

I'm wondering, why did keymaker post this in the soapbox, since there's nothing political in it. The article itself is quite interesting actually.
Posted by: steveg

Re: Pain findings... - 03/16/11 11:22 AM

Hockey rules it is, then. And speaking of pucked up, when I was in college in Boston, my friends and I used to hang out at the same pub as former Bruins like Wayne Cashman, Derek Sanderson, Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Gerry Cheevers, and Dallas Smith just to name a few. At least, those are the guys that would hit the Tam O'Shanter on Beacon St. after most home games. And we'd be there to get sh!tfaced with them. Unsportsmanlike conduct? They wrote the book. And we memorized it! grin

As for why km's choice of forums for this thread, or why he would inject sex in to it, that's another sports metaphor: Fishing.

The reference to sex is a bit weird....whatever.

Pain is ok but a needle makes you boys faint!

The type of needle phobia described in Dr. Hamilton's article is characterized by the vasovagal reflex reaction, a frightening reaction which includes plunging blood pressure and (often) loss of consciousness. Ha! Would you believe I once made a nurse nervous as she was trying to stick a needle in me? Finally she asked me to look away. Ok, so I guess I get a little quite uncomfortable at the idea of someone sticking a needle in me, so I handle it by focusing on the needle going through my skin. That's what made the nurse nervous, she got stage fright.

If they liked sex as much as men there'd prolly be straight cruising areas as there are gay cruising areas. Women would go and hang about in churchyards or places like Hampstead Heath to meet strangers but it doesn't happen.

Women are just as capable as men of enjoying sex and his remarks are 'kind of rubbish', says feminist Miss Piggy.
And here's why;

* The clitoris is the most sensitive of all female body parts.
* The clitoris contains 8,000 nerve endings, contrasted to 4,000 for the penis.
* It interacts actively with over 15,000 additional nerve endings throughout the pelvis.
* In short, it is exquisitely sensitive.
* The only function of the clitoris is ecstasy, leading to orgasm.

Upon further scrutiny, looks like women might enjoy it twice as much as men.

You are correct Leslie.
It is more of an approach to western woman, they prefer to be romanced before sex. They are looking for Love

KM
Point of view is more for Muslim women, who are largely vastly under educated, who are told who to marry, cannot even have a job or any sense of independence, must cover them selves up, with no sense of femininity. The only way they can survived is to get married, be a sex slave = a price they're willing to pay for a relationship? The price for life.

Re: Pain findings... - 03/18/11 02:57 PM

Too, stupid is more like it.

There was a time in the US even, say about 60 to 70 years ago, where women would look into relationships as a way to survive. They were raised to believe that the husband is the bread winner and will support them and their children = house wives.

Today, women are totally independent , many make more money then males. They are well educated, they seek romance and love, not to pay a price in any sense of the imagination.

Either this Stephen Fry, guy - is 60 years behind his studies or he is talking about Muslim Women in general <-- which is it ? ?

That would be strange - it's usually you knee-jerkers trying to locate the homophobes - so far we've got President Obama, Elton John, Stephen Fry and me - pity you're wrong on every single one of 'em - all you have to do is read your own posts or look in the mirror. cry

Neither... he's talking about the evolution of the species. laugh

I fkn' LOVE George Michael. Of all the gay men on this planet I wish I could have? (And trust me, there are lots of 'em.) George Michael.

Oh.

OK. Anyway, this seemed like the perfect video for KM. Wanna bet he just squirms when he watches?

Edit: Damn. I'd forgotten how good this one is. Whew. Killer ending, too. smile

Re: Pain findings... - 03/19/11 01:44 PM

On the contrary, I thought some of his music was really great - especially 'Bad Boys'... although it was very irreverent of his parents...

I don't agree with his public toilet theories because we used to live at Hampstead Heath when my first son was born and I'd have done anything to protect him from that kind of thing... although George wasn't cruising around there in those days.
