TVNewser: John Stossel Leaving ABC For Fox

Idiot blowhard with poor relationship with facts finds idiot blowhard network with poor relationship with facts. Now, if Fox puts together Stossel and Beck in a two hour special, you might just get half a minute of intelligible conversation.

I wonder if he got a better deal on his mousse allowance.

I don't watch TV News and I may have seen 20-20 two times in my life but I definitely remember this douche bag. He puts the Douche in Douchebag.

This redeems Stossel, at least a little bit, and for those of us for whom the sentiment matters:

[Heh, serendipitous...In the Glenn Beck thread that Ed started, I was trying to figure out how to make a chummy shortening of your full "name", Padmavyuha, and rather than use 'Padma' or 'vyuha', I just took it right out of the middle: " ímavy."]

Re: Who didn't see this one coming... - 09/10/09 04:48 PM

I don't even have that P.O.S. font on my system, and I force Firefox to use my choice of fonts anyway, so the only way anyone can make me see it is in an image.

Unless and until the Typekit makes it possible for web designers to force feed fonts to end-users, that is...

Sparkey

The option for comic sans MS , is under the ""T"" for type in the response BOX for this forum

The selection is rather real small but SURPRISE comic sans MS in one of them

...and I use it every time I'm discussing comicbooks...
I have no idea what you're on about, but
not everybody shares your prejudice

GET OVER IT ALREADY!

Durrrr, of COURSE I knew that, Carp! That doesn't mean I have to allow it to display on my end, eh?

Seriously, if somebody wants to use a casual font, or even something that more accurately reflects a REAL comic book font, there are tons of good, free ones available.

Check http://www.blambot.com/fonts_dialogue.shtml , for starters.

I chose not to take him seriously,
since I wasn't that serious about
what I said to him. wink

but I really don't understand what
he has against comicbook font...

btw, my other forum displays
about 50 fonts and more colors
than you can shake a stick at
above & beyond the handful of
pulldown shortcuts.. wotever
(and the entire range of sizes)

Huh - it seriously never occurred to me that the CS font was meant to emulate comic books - I always assumed it was just meant to be 'comical' and that people use it when they're (they think) being whimsical, which is what's annoying, not the font so much itself.

Now if you want to talk Font Rage, just show me Times Roman (new, 2nd hand, whatever) - gods that font is ugly. Ugh. Brrrrr.

My favouritest font in the world is called URW Palladio - it's a unicode Palatino clone with all the pali/sanskrit romanisation characters, and european accented charaters too (hard to find fonts with both) and has a truly beautiful italic.

Yar, it's meant to emulate hand-inked comicbook dialog.
since I've been made to draw for comicbook repeatedly
during my life, and also had to emulate the balloons
by hand, I've come to realize that that clean easy
to read font flows very naturally off the pencil,
and finally the pen... I was delighted to find
it as a short cut when was introduced to my
first computer... esp. since my BF has
been writing his master script for
his boyhood dream project...
...and expecting me to
illustrate it when
the time comes.

That's how I figured it too. That one should only use comic sans for something to look unpolished and child like. I thought the type setter cult people only got all in a dither if it was used for serious work.

I spent way too much time trying to find a heart so I could say "I <3 Comic sans".

Fun fact: In the 80s when everyone in New England had those I heart my dog head bumper stickers with the <3 and a picture of their favorite breed I made a bumper sticker on my first laser printer.

I spelled out "I HEART MY DOG HEAD".

When I wish to do the child script
(more often the moron script when telling a DUHbya joke)
I use a script called "Sand" which of course looks like
mishappened letters scratched in wet sand with a stick.

AFAIWC: "Comic sans" always meant just that smile
