yeah, Obama has avoided Kwame since the scandals broke last year (your clip is from May 2007 way before scandal errupted). Kwame had quite the list of accomplishments for a sucky city before he effed everything up and disgraced himself and his city:
In reply to:

Balanced Detroits budget to avoid receivership
Organized the Transformation Growth Comittee - which is a big reason why Detroit has had so much revitalization downtown.
Organized the Office of Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization- which is working on the improvement of 8 detroit areas including improvement on lighting, streetscaping, and facade.
Detroit 12 yr tax abatement- which gives Detroit residences a break on their taxes for the first 12 yrs. This has really pushed the property sales in Detroit.
Worked with Ella Bully Cummings to restructure our police force in order to reduce payroll and put more police on the beat than ever before.
He also has a small business Detroit support initiative.
Kilpatrick negotiated an overhaul of Cobo Convention Center, set for next year.
He also has a highly anticipated economic stimulus package coming out.

but the dude squandered everything. and this video is making the rounds on right-wing websites. good find.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions

Don't forget, Kwame was also a super delegate. You wouldn't get that info by reading the Associated Press. You also won't be informed by NBC News or the Today Show that Kilpatrick was a "rising star" in the Democrat party. ABC didn't tag him as a Democrat either. And while Mayor of Detroit doesn't rise to the level of United States Senator, The Associated Press slaps you about the face and head as to what party the Senator who had a gas grill and deck installed at his house is a member of.

***************

nuttin'

Re: "...You're doin' a heckuva job..." - 08/09/08 04:10 AM

from your AP article:
In reply to:

It was a stunning outcome, exceeding even what prosecutors had sought. And it came two days after Kilpatrick's mother, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, survived a Democratic primary election that was dominated by her son's legal woes.

they pointed out his mom's party affiliation as she ran as a democrat. and this gets at the funniest thing about your complaint -- when you run for mayor in Detriot, it is a non-partisan position so you don't run as dem. blaming the AP or media for ignoring party affiliation when that's not even provided on the ballot to put him in office is just another feeble attempt to get angry at the media. good stuff Matt!

Kwame was once a rising star, but is now a disgrace. i hope our governor removes him from his office. she's apparently mulling it over. fingers crossed that she does the right thing.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions

Not to mention that there's a huge difference between appointing a loser, for whom you end up being responsible for better or worse, and having a loser elected by the people.

[color:red] [color:orange] [color:yellow] [color:green] [color:blue] [color:purple]
