For a solid decade, the Democrats have been doing the same thing over and over again, drifting even further to the left, and look at what it has cost them:

-Control of The House of Representatives, which they held for 40 years.

-Control of the Senate, which they had for years, and which the Republican majority has grown to 55.

-Numerous Governorships and State Legislatures

-And now the presidency in '04

The only success the Democrats have had nationally has been when the candidate comes to the center, or at least pretends to (Bill Clinton.)

The Democratic party is going to continue to drift until they get the message.

A Democrat like Joe Lieberman could've beaten George Bush this year.

I would have to agree with you but then what's the point except for a name change of the party in power? I don't think Lieberman would have won as the Republican attack dogs would have found weaknesses. Howard Dean would have actually been a choice which was different form the Republicans. But again, Dean would have had a snowball's chance in hell** since he speaks too honestly and not from cards.

** Actually since the Red Sox won the World Series there have been reports that snowballs have been doing fine in hell. Hopefully Arafat will be able to get in before the door freezes. shut.

red sox otter pops for sale

51 - 49 -- we're talking some minor tweaks and the split goes the other direction for president. i am not concerned about that part of what just occurred. the house of reps is another story.

the cultural war is real and these past two days have cause a lot of people to wake up to it. rural versus urban. religion ebbs-and-flows in this country and it's on the upswing and in control. we'll see if they can hold on to people.

--
one of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. -Plato

The rural urban thing is getting pretty self evident when you look at the blue shores of our country and the red heart land. The Daily show was pretty funny last night. Something about not allowing you yokels in the middle access to the beach.

red sox otter pops for sale

So, Sean have you given up on "uniting" the country?

Just some minor tweaks and the "Blues" will get power back and then all is well. Put those red states in their place.
Shouldn't everyone be looking for some ways to inject a little purple back into the country?

yeah, i saw it. pretty funny show last night. i liked the comment where the correspondent said it's the last night to have gay sex and visit a library "and, i think i'll kill two birds with one stone tonight." gave me a chuckle.

it is pretty amazing to see the sea of red surrounded by blue on the coasts and up north.

--
one of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. -Plato

Rob Corddry:

In reply to:

The Democrats wanted to keep this from going to courts. Thanks to their strategy of an incoherent campaign message, an uncomfortable Vietnam fetish, and an undying belief in the get out the vote power of Ashton Kutcher and Bon Jovi, it won't be.

terrorists can unite the country and the world. liberals and conservatives don't seem to have the same power. in fact, we've seen just the opposite lately.

honestly, i prefer a split between the legislative and executive branches and that's what the "all is well" comment was alluding to. checks and balances = all is well.

--
one of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. -Plato

i can't wait to see the proportional map. this was one that was made prior to the election, but gives a better picture of much more even it really is:

EDIT: odd, but it's not appearing. i can see it in my pictures folder and i have copied over it with a new version yet it just doesn't want to show up. i used imagewell so there is no typo or anything strange. hmmm.

--
one of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. -Plato
Edited by sean on 11/04/04 10:20 AM (server time).

blue = places terrorists might attack.
red = places where people are most afraid of terrorism.

--
one of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. -Plato

This is probably what you were trying to show (from the electoral-vote website):

Not quite so impressive when you show it proportional to population instead of acreage.
