Modding a HD to accomodate a LED - 09/02/06 07:46 PM

I have two IDE hard drives, but none of them have external connectors for a(n) LED.  i've checked the spec sheet from the manufacturers, but the only thing I might be able to mod are the pins on the IDE port themselves.  There's a separate pin for read and write.  Would I be able to connect either one of these to a wire leading to an LED with the other wire leading to a ground pin (without blowing up the drive)?  Anything I would have to look out for ahead of time?  Thanks for the help.

The answer to this one is buried in the forums somewhere. You'll have to look I'm afraid.

Pin 37 on the IDE ribbon cable.

+ of the LED on the cable and - on the gound to the v ground on a power supply morlex connector.
