Using a slimline optical drive port - 02/08/06 06:32 PM

I've been thinking of a mod that requires an extension of the slimline optical drive port found on most laptops and the iMac G5/Intel. Problem is, no one expects you to connect a regular IDE drive to a slimline optical port, even though it would fit in most laptops. Does anyone know of an adapter that will do the reverse of an adapter such as this: http://www.case-mod.com/store/slimline-optical-desktop-ide-adapter-conversion-board-p-1619.html ?

If you can't find that, is there an official name of the connector used, that I might be able to craft my own?

You can easily make one. All it needs is the main 40pins to function and the rest is power/ground.

Heres a few links on the pinouts.
