iMac G3 as an external display

iMac G3 as an external display - 01/08/07 05:03 PM

Does anyone know of a way to use an iMac G3 as an external display?  I have one sitting around, and a display seems like a good use for it.  I know it would involve taking the iMac apart and finding some cord that feeds the display its video.

If I can't turn it into an external display, option 2 will be a fish tank...

If it's the older trayload iMac then you can easy buy a adapter off of ebay.If it's the slot-load then you would have to wire up a VGA connector.

COOL!!!  What exactly should I look for on eBay, and where inside do I plug it in? (it is a tray load)

The CRT on the tray loaders has a DB-15 connector inside the case. This is essentially VGA with the pins arranged differently. The old Beige G3s and most Macs before them had the same connector.

My BondiMac has a 9-pin connector. It's a Rev. B.
