CD-ROM Working (finally!)

CD-ROM Working (finally!) - 10/17/04 02:25 AM

I have been sent email by various MacModders, suggesting that I either set jumpers, use third-party drivers, or both. Well, I did both. But, the thing is, I didn't really understand the jumper settings on the top of the CD-ROM. I really didn't care if it was set to ID 0; all I cared about was getting the device to work.

On some of my old MacAddict CD's, I found a file called SCSIProbe. I installed it by means of the factory CD-ROM Reader. Then, I switched back over to the NEC CD-ROM. After setting the CD-ROM reader up for use using SCSIProbe, I rebooted the 6360, inserted a CD, and there the icon appeared on the Desktop, like normal.

Thank you, guys, for giving me suggestions on how to get that CD-ROM going.

Another thing: Seeing how the "Audio Out" connection on the device didn't match the one in the computer, I simply used a patch cable to connect from the Headphone port on the CD-ROM, to the "Audio In" connector on the back of the computer. I know I'll have to get a headphone jack splitter so that I can use my microphone as well.

Thanks again,
