Painting outside + clear coat questions. - 05/29/09 08:01 PM

Hi, I used krylon fusion on the outside of a mdd (front sides and top.
It came out really nice, but I'd like to protect it as much as possible.

I found a clear within the fusion line and wonder if this would prevent chips / scratches?

Anyone have experience with the above?

I've used regular clear coats after painting with fusion and had no probs... I think that you only need to use fusion for the plastic surface but paints will bond to fusion no prob...

So was it worth it to clear coat?
Did it actually help against scuff's etc . .

I think so, unless your painting it white, some clear coats yellow over time. It can really show on white.

I prefer to use Dupi-Color truck/suv clear. It's thin so it takes a few coats but you has less hassle for the paint the fade or change color/tone after a while. Not to mention you can add a car wax for more added protection from dust. krylon fusion can be a magnet for dust. Depends on the color Darker you go the more static.
