Looking to paint a g5 iMac - 10/29/08 11:35 AM
So I just bought a first Gen G5 iMac and I'm looking to mod it. Out side of bigger HDD, more memory, and a new cooling fan I would like to paint it as well.
Does anyone have any tips on painting it? Does the rubbing alcohol trick with on this case?
Just looking for a few tips before i dive head first into it.

I've go one at home. I'll check it out as far as the alcohol trick. I sort of doubt it, since they haven't made the iBooks like that since the early G4's. Other than that, there's always krylon

Ok, looking at my early intel iMac, it seem feasible. There does indeed appear to be a clear outer case that's painted white on the inside. Now that I think about it, I've seen a very few black iMacs on eBay, so I just bet it works. I'd test the method on an inconspicuous location. A toothbrush works best for getting the paint off, and be sure to use at least 80% alcohol, the 70% and lower simply doesn't work. Good luck! Post pics when you get a chance.

nice find Radio, I wasn't sure how these were painted. Could make for some pretty cool mods.
