pbook screen as 2nd monitors anyone? - 02/01/05 05:13 PM

Newbie here, looking for anyone who may have info on the posibility of moding a powerbook screen to use as a 2nd monitor for a desktop. I'd like to make something akin to the digital picture frames seen on other pages here, but have it connected to my desktop as an extended desktop where I stash iTunes and other pallets, while hanging on the wall next to me. Is it possible to mod the wiring of the pbook screen for a VGA or standard mac connector?

Thanks, and be gentle with me...

Just from some simple knowledge of LCD displays....most are digital and VGA is analog, so I don't think it would be a simple conversion, and it may not be possible at all.

To my knowledge pretty much every laptop screen has its own particular controller card, that is designed to work with the laptop but not in any sense VGA or DVI. So you would need a special controller card designed for that LCD with VGA, DVI, etc. connection on it.
