It seems that if (when ) these MBP start showing up on ebay would the swap in my al pb simple? I mean it seems like the dimensions are the same and the ports are in the same places...

It would be alot of work, and you'd need the right card cage, left I/O board and with the exception of drives, everything in the bottom half to go with it. The LCD should run though.
