No poll needed.

Steveg acted inappropriately, can't do anything but hurl insult after insult after insult, which is pretty standard for this guy.

So, I have no problem if people look negatively on me for staying here and refuting every one of steve's falsehoods.
In reply to:

No poll needed

Maybe not Matt. Then again, there's been a lot of assumptions going on about what the rest of us think. Here's a vehicle to test the waters, so to speak, albeit a light-hearted one. If you don't want to take part, it's not a drama. Stoush?

The OED goes directly from "stoury--characterized by flying dust or driving snow" all the way to "stout--a gad-fly, horse-fly" (and no rude comments about my image in the mirror: a miracle!).

Anyway, does the object of the current thread nestle neatly near the nuances here?

And that's true too.--Shakespeare, King Lear

Re: You asked for it! - 05/22/02 08:57 PM

Stoush = brawl, scrap, fight, etc. From England...possibly colloquial to the North but I'm not sure.

the one =stoush= is a noun describing the melee that followeth on from the one =Put your dukes up= invitation to stoush

=============================================================
| "Behold the Turtle, he maketh no progress ==== until he sticketh out his neck." |
=============================================================

My dad was using that expression in mock fights with me when I was but a lad of 7 or 8.
