Zeiss lenses - 01/09/14 09:38 PM

I read this article a while back and was reminded of it just now when John Lasruk was commenting on FB about camera phones'/ mobile cameras' inferior plastic lenses.

Zeiss makes lenses for for mobile phones and cameras that out resolve a Zeiss studio lens.
It's all in the dimple.

Interesting read. When I want a decent photograph, I still grab my Fuji 7.1 Mp rather than my iPhone 4. Small cameras are getting better and better (see Panasonic's Lumix series for one). I have, on occasion, gotten a pretty decent shot with the iPhone, but it did require some prep and concentration. Also, I'm still learning just how to effectively use the iPhone's camera since it still is not my "go to" camera of choice.
