About 29 minutes - 11/04/13 05:48 PM

That is how long I have to wait before the data is transferred to my new 13 inch MacBook Pro. I got the one with the 256 gig hard drive. grin

How much data?
You mean you got a new MacBook pro and are transferring everything from your old one?
And it only takes 29 minutes?
Wow.
Congratulations!

It started at 53 minutes. I am transferring from a Time Machine backup via Firewire 800 and a Thunderbolt adapter. It is about 190 gigs of data.

You will really like it. I love the screen and it is so much easier to type on. I was using a 15 inch Macbook Pro and i like this a lot better.

Re: About 29 minutes - 11/08/13 09:39 AM

I got it last night and loaded up my lectures. I'm not going to transfer everything... limited storage space....

BUT damm it's fast... don't know if it's the Haswell CPU or the dynamic storage, but everything flies !! grin

So far it's a 10 !! My students were even salivating during lecture !! smile

It's the flash drive. The difference between that and spinning platters is the difference. I've seen older Macs many times faster than newer ones just because of a flash drive infusion.

Enjoy. cool

We boys with our toys. My iMac is a 2008 vintage.

Re: About 29 minutes - 11/08/13 01:42 PM

I figured that had to be most of it because the Haswell CPU only boosts speed 20-30%... This is like 2-3 X faster maybe more...

NOW in comparison, . . . my desktop (iMac) runs like a brick !!! mad

It took me about 12 seconds to fall in love with the drive in mine. I got Apple Care with mine and the drive is one reason i did. They are more reliable than they used to be but I am not taking any chances.
