Press conference question (non political)

Press conference question (non political) - 10/08/13 11:43 AM

When a president holds a press conference, ( Any president ) does he screen the questions before hand? He seemed to know who was to ask questions before hand today. Also seemed to know what the questions were going to be. No zingers

Interesting thought, Dave. Who might know the answer to your question and would they really tell us?

We would tell you the answer Dave.....

but then we'd have to either shoot you or ship you to Gitmo (or Dick Chaney's house). laugh

I suspect they do .... ALL of them !!

The President knows most if not all of the reporters in the room at least by name and he usually selects the one to ask the next question (thus, he in fact does know who will ask questions ;-) ...

Questions are not pre-screened. Sorry there weren't any zingers -- when the person you're questioning actually knows their schnitt the opportunities for zingers are decreased to a very low order of probability ^_^

Dave

I've always assumed it was,
both to keep the conference on the topic for which the
press conference had been called in the first place,
...and to avoid embarrassing "Gotcha' Style" "zingers".

"would you believe ... I'll personally apologize to Dick, Chief ? "

. . . "would you believe ... I'm beating myself up Chief"

..... "would you believe ... it Won't happen again, chief " !

Apologies Dave for hijacking your thread.

I still stick by my serious answer... ignore the first part. I think they all know- for the most part...

The consequences of asking "Gotcha' questions"
is never being selected to ask another question
....ever.......under any circumstance.

tough questions are allowable -- questions crafted
in such a way as to intentionally cause embarrassment
are not.
