Those chameleons actually look cute! The ones in my neck of the woods are pretty ugly & wrinkled all up.

I dunno - thought about that too.
Maybe they eat other worms or such. They are almost 1 mm long.
Or being on the bottom, maybe they scavenge dead animal parts (that sink to the bottom) like maggots do.

Pretty ugly looking, huh !! I think we should call him - "old wart-mouth " !!! wink

Are they Monarchs & was the pic taken in Mexico?

Come to think of it, I've only seen one pretty orange Monarch butterfly this summer. mad

Re: Ugly Animals 4 Nana - 11/26/13 11:39 AM

Yes, They're Monarchs
if you View Image full sizze
I'd been posting DeskTop Images 4 U. smile

I haven't even seen ONE This Year frown
They seem to have changed their Range
due to the warmer temperatures, and are
now going all the way to Canada to breed.

However, due to
Monsanto's Genetically Modified CORN**
most of them are no longer around to
complete the full life cycle, while at
the same time their Sacred Grove in
Mexico is being systematically destroyed.

Your fondest childhood memories of these
magical creatures may prove to just that..
..MEMORIES... frown

Monsanto has spliced the genes of a
naturally occurring bacteria INTO CORN.
The Bacteria is specific to caterpillars.
Meant to kill the ickie CORN WORM (Moth),
it happens to kill ANY CATERPILLAR it
comes into contact with..
..including the Monarch that feed on the
Milkweed plants surrounding corn fields.

lotta corn fields between NJ & Old Mexico frown
