Songs for people over 50 - 08/11/13 09:38 AM

Here is one person's list of must have songs for people over 50. I am sure most of us could add or subtract from the list.

I have been looking at some of the songs on youtube. There are not many that I would put on my list. The Bobby Darin version of Once Upon a Time is better than the Sinatra. The lack of any Platters songs is enough to kill the list for me.

Actually, there are few there I would have on my list.

Sinatra is not allowed in my home. crazy

No Bo Didley or Ray Charles. No Neil Diamond.

And where's Chuck Berry or Buddy Holly.

How about "Johny Begood". Or. "My ding a ling "?

Okay maybe scratch My ding aling

Re: Songs for people over 50 - 08/11/13 07:17 PM

This started during a discussion about music with Ted.
He feels that I'm "Musically Challenged" due to my
lack of appreciation for Rock & Roll, actually,
I have a very (VERY) eclectic taste in music
enjoying everything from Sitar music, to
(you guessed it) the Didgeridoo...
((and a shipload of Classical))

So my response to him regarding nothing BUT R&R
was, "Hey! There's just so many time you can
listen to "Stairway To Heaven"! smirk

Some time later, during a similar discussion,
this time with our friend AusMac.. I used the same
example for a beat into the ground piece of music
...only he gave out with a long series of LOLOLs
and a link to "Your Money or Your Life"

part of which featured NUMEROUS COVERS of
yup... that very same all-too-familiar diddy

so whether you just can't get enough of THAT SONG sick
(or just for a friendly Sunday dose of Spits N Giggles)

CHECK OUT A Few MORE VERSIONS On YouTUBE

CNN has links, regularly from some who just have to have a list for something, from best foods to best highways to drive. The other day there was list of " 7 movies one has to see before they die" or some such.

Of of them was "Mean Girls"

Mean Girls, ??? They have to be kidding

But it just goes to show that everyone has different taste.

But, Mean Girls? That's too much

NOT from the '60's
...that's for sure...

actually wasn't that long ago
14 years ago, the year was 1999
I'd gone on a daytrip with Paulette
to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in NYC

It was prolly the Spring Solstice Celebration
the figure behind me was "Mother Nature" I was
waiting for Paulie, ...but she came from another
direction from whence she'd gone, & snapped a pict.

I figure the problem lies in
just how-far-over 50 you're talkin'
when you're dealing with a group like AARP
covering that much territory grows increasingly difficult.
