...the name of the Cooking Show
(probably before we all got on the WWW)
wherein the cook used to rummage through his cupboard
and prepare some amazing dishes from whatever he had on hand

It's been bugging me for the past year, and I can't come up with a name. cry

Can't recall. Rachel Ray goes to the cupboard and fridge and loads up her arms with the ingredients. I'm always hoping she will drop some . Of course, it's taped so we wouldn't see that.

I sure wish I could get a handle on the name of the show...
...or the name of the guy doing the foraging & cooking...

...but The Entire Premise of the Program
was the ability to create a meal out of practically NOTHING!

(and No.. it wasn't "The Frugal Gourmet")

I think Alton Brown had a show where he would go into other people's homes and made, like, a five course meal based on whatever he found in their kitchen ...

Or maybe it wasn't Alton brown ... hmmm, my Google Sense is tingling ....

Nope, the one I was thinking of was Food 911 with Tyler Florence. I don't think it's what you're looking for, but maybe?

Rachel Ray is the title of one of Anthony Trollope's lesser known novels.

Useless info--but then, I was an English major, so what do you expect?!

Nope & Nope

The time frame seemed right
but the picture's are wrong.

The guy I'm thinking of was short,
had a prominent nose a mustache & glasses

I seem to remember him wearing a chef's hat...?

In fact, he was so distinctive looking that his Profile
was featured as the program's logo.

I give up. frown

I guess the show having aired
prior to the advent of the web
it's not even archived anywhere.

Sorry to see the Food Network change its programing from cooking shows to those stupid reality type things like Chopped

There is a Cooking Network that is said to have cooking shows but my cable doesn't offer it in my area,

You gave me a couple of leads that I followed
to a show called "Stone Soup" and another
called "Pantry Raiders" but hit a
dead end when searching for
the show host that I'm
searching for.

However...
the name "Stone Soup"
and the FaerieTale it
brought to mind sent me
off on yet another tangent;

Does anyone remember watching
Jim Henson's "The Story Teller"?
starring John Hurt as The Storyteller?

Actually, there were phases of the show
One that related olde European Tales
The other involved Greek Mythology.

I checked out YouTUBE but
only the Greek Myths remain:

Thats right called himself the cooking cajun, had lots of good cajun recipes, tons of cook books and in later years you could catch his recorded tv shows on PBS stations....at one time his recipes were all I cooked until I had to switch to something less hot.
