Really good keynote this morning. Mavericks and iOS7 look super cool. The crowd gave a standing ovation for iOS7, how often does something like that happen? Genuine excitement over the new look & feel.

On the introduction of the MacPro Schiller says "Apple can't innovate anymore . my @ss!"
That was hilarious.

DROOL
We'll have to see how much this thing costs, and of course how much expansion will be available (ex: what would an external graphics expansion look like?, etc.), but the design looks appropriately radical. Hopefully in the vein of the mini and not the cube ;-)

It WILL all come down to how expensive it will be ...

I was waiting until today's announcement to upgrade all my gear. No changes in the 27 iMac so I'm ready to pull the trigger. There's a brand new form factor on the Airport Extreme and Time Capsule, one of them will be sitting on my desk shortly. Looking forward to Mavericks in the Fall.

Even I can get excited about the new iOS. LOoks exciting.

I'll enjoy having Mavericks around if it does not make my iMac go out of date too quickly.

'twas a fun presentation and I watched in real time out on the patio. On iPad.

10" x 6", wow.

Looks like internal expansion cards are a thing of the past. For example a RAID, or something to integrate with high end video apps. I guess it will all be external Thunderbolt.

Looking at the photo galleries of Mavericks and iOS7 . Mavericks needs to use the much-improved app icons in iOS. Weird that they're not the new ones - Photos, Calendar, Safari, Settings.

I am really liking the looks of the "can!" I am still using my 2008 Mac Pro. Any listings for the system requirements for Maverick?

The 27" iMac came out in 2013. What changes were you looking for? One that included a superdrive? confused

The 27" iMac came out in October 2009.

Re: New OSX - 06/10/13 06:27 PM

The new 27 iMac shipped in late December 2012. Just a few weeks ago they put faster 7200rpm HDs in the fusion drive configuration, but also added a new option of a 512Gb SSD which I'm ordering. If there was an anouncement today that iMacs would have retina displays or better speakers I would have waited.

From what I've run across it's speculation, but if it can run Mountain Lion, hardware-wise, it should be able to run 10.9.

Roger that. That's the latest iteration.. of a model that has been around for...years. Just saying.. that's not the same tech as what's just been announced. Not even close.
But you know that.
It's going to be very interesting to see final specs on this puppy. smile

Re: New OSX - 06/11/13 07:11 AM

Meanwhile, they've also *released* (available at stores tomorrow, I think) a new AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule, supporting 802.11ac and backwards in a new form factor ... did they even mention these at the keynote?

Wether or not you dig the new gadgets, this was certainly a packed keynote -- good times to be an Apple geek ;-)
Posted by: yoyo52

Re: New OSX - 06/11/13 08:22 AM

Yes, the new AirPort was in the presentation--more or less secondary to the news that the new hardware would use 802.11ac.
