Homework - 05/18/13 04:46 AM

Saw this idea somewhere else and liked it.

Homework: One person assigns anyone who wants to participate a photo homework. The give a topic, and participants contribute a photo on that theme - preferably recent.

First homework: Tree(s)

Re: Homework - 05/18/13 05:02 AM

I'll go first. And last maybe? smile

Okay, it's not just a tree. It was a Byzantine Chapel that I ran across right in the middle of Tokyo. Very incongruous, so I snapped a few pics. Didn't turn out bad for being an iPod pic.

We used to play a Forum Game on one of my many
defunct forums brought down by in-fighting, called;

"The Picture Above"

The rules were simple, each subsequent image had to
relate somehow to the one immediately proceeding it.

It ran for the entire 4 years in which the forum lived.

Are you suggesting something along those lines? smile

Taken in one of local rain forests.
If you look just over half way up the tree, it looks like a monkey is sitting there.

My 2nd Favorite Tree: The Paulownia

It can obtain elephantine proportions!

Leslie, I love the pic. I can see the monkey, actually I clearly see two huddled next to each other.

Gary, good pic, love the mountains in the background, what general area do you live in. Tokyo is surrounded by mountains, but they just look like shadows most of the time except for Fuji.

Cel, the Pawlonia is also highly valued for it's wood in Japan. It's called Kiri.

Is THIS more what you had in mind in the Original Post?

Re: Homework - 05/18/13 05:53 PM

My dogwood is not pink nor white. Rather it looks like a very light greenish white color. It blooms after all regular colored dogwoods have passes. I call it my Jesus tree because for some reason I have difficulty remembering the name "dogwood".

Palm Springs in So. California.
This the the view from my back yard

This canyon view is from a trail about 1/2 mile down the street

further up that trail is a palm oasis with water, almost dry now in May.

It's a much hardier, insect & disease resistant variety
of dogwood called a "Kousa Dogwood" that nurseries
have been encouraging people to plant rather than
the more familiar native that's being decimated
across the country by fungal disease.

BONUS: the fruit is edible as well

btw, This is already so much fun,
getting to see bits of the habitat
various members call "Home" smile

Leslie...
That moss covered tree is OUTSTANDING!

Do you use PhotoBucket?

It's FREE quick as a wink when you get used to it. wink

I use Tinypic.com, it's free and simple with no sign-up.
(In the 'captcha' part of the upload, just keep clicking to refresh until it asks a simple text answer rather than watching an ad.)

I'll wait a week and then assign another homework - but more contributions welcome! PS - I use photobucket as well.

Re: Homework - 05/19/13 08:04 PM

Amazing, you could live inside there.

I saw a similar idea somewhere else, not at the site you linked (if that's maybe why you are asking) It was just someone's idea on FB, spur of the moment, and many people posted pics.

The site you linked looks somewhat similar to what they might be doing at that link, I don't know, I just took a glimpse.

Just wondering if you wanted the game to start off
more or less structured rather than organic...

There are a lot of variations on the theme
...it's all good.

Have at it. smile

Re: Homework - 05/30/13 05:02 AM

Been a bit over a week. Was trying to think of a good new theme. How about clocks? A general time theme?
Posted by: lanovami

Re: Homework - 05/30/13 05:04 AM

The clock in my parents-in-law's place on January 1st 2013. The clock read Tuesday the 32nd. Thought it was pretty cool. Downloaded instagram for the first time just to make it look cooler.. blush

Cool. I think I remember seeing clocks something like that now and then back in the 70s.

I love, *at the nicest stores everywhere*
