East Coast About To Be Overrun With Cicadas

<-Wiki peek

Any day now, billions of cicadas with bulging red eyes will crawl out of the earth after 17 years underground and overrun the East Coast. The insects will arrive in such numbers that people from North Carolina to Connecticut will be outnumbered roughly 600-to-1. Maybe more.

I remember just a few years ago when we had a batch in this area. The ground and trees were were covered with with the little buggers. And the sound was glorious.

A great memory from my childhood is the sound they made in the fall. So peaceful. My oh my.

If You Can't Beat'em, Eat'em grin

They're good for Crafts as well.
The prettiest use I've ever seen them put to
was a line of delicate fairies, staged seated
in fine china tea cups with cicada wings.

HEY! shocked
Better than having the wings stuck in your bridge-work!

pretty cute, huh?
