I hate to waste, love to repurpose.

I had collected a stack of useless scrap wood to toss out. For some reason, I took a second look at a large-ish piece of pine with oddball dimensions and a lot of imperfections and dings, and out of the blue came a connection! Some wood putty, lots of sanding, a bit of trim and a few coats of honey pine polyurethane, and viola!







A perfect fit and an excuse to do a bit more decor tweaking.

Somebody stop me before I redecorate again!

I never throw out wood. Too expensive, and I've found that I've needed weird-sized scraps from time to time when building or repairing something.

I got it for $5 at a flea market a/b 20 years ago. It's fully functional, but the space bar linkage broke last year and it needs a ribbon.

Ok, Mr. Nitpicky. Though the space stopped working, the carriage can still be advanced by gently pressing any character key. And the ribbon still imprints — just not as clearly as a new one.

Oh, and it only has serial ports — no USB.

Haven't been able to find them. No typewriter repair shops in my area. I'm looking into restoration. It's such a cool old thang, I'd have it refurbed as long as the cost is reasonable.
