Question for old timers

I'm watching the classic Christmas film, "A Christmas Story"

During the scene with Ralphies father changing the tire, Ralphies says the "F" word.

Subsequently his mother washes his mouth out with soap.

How many of you had your mouth washed with soap when you were young?

The funny thing was the swear was not directed at my mother - she overheard me say it while outside playing with friends, when a baseball hit me in the chest - LOL.

Back then you just took your blows - Today parents can be arrested just for spanking their kids.

I got it once, at least. Can't remember why exactly, I'm sure I deserved it.

I did. Then I died and boy, were my parents sorry!

Can't remember what I did to deserve it, but it was something.

That did the trick for me. I even remember once in my fifties I accidently used a bad word and I quickly put my hand to my mouth as I realized what I had done. I'm glad she did it and I have no regrets.
