Dell for Home . . . wowsers!

If you ever get a chance to buy a Dell printer, don't do it. I have never seen such a screwed up mess in all my life. We have a Dell laser at work and it is awful. The first one went bad and they sent a rebuilt replacement that had been sold overseas and when it went bad 3 days after arrival their whole system blew up. They sent out 3 different repairmen and could not even get it to work. One of the repairmen hadn't had a bath in weeks and the seat of his pants was full of holes. It took 4 months of grief to get one that worked.

OK--and how do you feel about Dell?

I didn't even mention the Dell desktop that has a 3 day express service plan for business. The last time I had to use it for a motherboard replacement it took 2 weeks. When the hard drive went out I just had them send a new one and I replaced it myself.

My work Dell , something would fail every 6 to 8 months .

Anyway seems that Apple itself is following the same road ? ? I mean judging buy the (Help) questions in this forum alone.

Apple used to be better - not so sure now.

Well when they were smaller, they had a near perfect resord; BUT growing pains have cut the QC some... still much better than most and they usually make anything reasonable "good". Many others don't !

I've had issues with an iPhone - made it good ! Other than the 2 trips - I was pleased as punch.

For whatever it's worth, Dell printers are actually Lexmark printers with a Dell case. So if you're not happy with the Dell, don't ever replace it with a Lexmark.

Well THAT splains a lot !!

Well, my (white, 17 ") iMac now shows 5 purple and white vertical lines and according to Apple it'll cost around $500 to replace the MB. It didn't quite last ten years. Bought it in early 2006.

One reason I didn't get an iMac as my last desktop--I'm afraid the A-I-O design produces this kind of problem.

The company that services our Lexmark printers (black only) says these Dells are not made by Lexmark and they do not service them. That may not be true but that is what is said. They may not want to service them. We have two Lexmark black lasers that have been there seven years now with nothing but routine maintenance performed on them.
