27" iMacs showing up on Apple refurb store now - 12/31/09 06:02 AM

The 3.06 ghz 27" iMac was on there this morning for $1449.00. That's about $250 off the retail price for those who have been waiting for a refurb!

Refurbs are the only way to go! I have 2 refurbed Minis here and my daughter's refurbed eMac is still running flawlessly.

Which begs the question , I should have asked when I was there at the store .

I have 4 Macs but only the 24 iMac is under Pro Care , so can I cover the other 3 under the Pro Care with a substantial discount or do I have to pay 99 bucks for each one ?

The facts Jack. smile

3 total on each ProCare. I'd say the 4th you'd have to buy another ProCare for. Apple doesn't cut deals.

Thanks

All for just $99 per year, for up to three computers. Ask a Mac Specialist about ProCare.

Wait
They told me the 99 was for 3 years , because I had the extended regular Apple Care - Something is fishy

Carp, Maybe the answer is here:

General
ProCare is only available for separate purchase at a Apple Retail Store for up to three Apple computers owned and registered in your name. Customers are limited to one ProCare membership per year. ProCare will be valid for one year from the date of purchase. If ProCare is purchased by a minor (under 18) or on a minorís behalf, an adult must be present to agree to these Terms and Conditions. An adult must be present with a minor under the age of 14 for the duration of the in-store services. ProCare services are valid only at Apple Retail Store locations and cannot be used for service requests made through the online Apple Store, Apple Telesales (800-MY-APPLE), or any Apple reseller or service provider. Presentation of your ProCare card and another form of identification may be required before ProCare services are provided. ProCare services are not transferable. Apple reserves the right to refuse, limit, or cancel any ProCare service and/or membership if a customer has displayed unreasonable behavior; is deemed to be violent, abusive or disruptive; or has otherwise breached these Terms and Conditions.

-*-*-*-*-

It doesn't specifically say what the price for 1 or for 3 Macs would be. Seems to me, they mean one price for 3 Macs.

Yes it is fishy. I don't see anything here about that.

I'd say the genius made a mistake.

Yep - I was misled , thats for sure . Oh well

But good to know that I can cover up to 3 for 99 bucks , However its about to expire anyway .

The Pro Care does get you in the door faster almost same day service - Unlike what John went through

Gees! I start to respond to a post Carp made and it is the last one in the thread. I leave my reply window open while I read Pro Care documents, One on One information, watch a news flash on TV and then complete my post. Meantime, his question has already been answered by the Forum Resident ProCar Expert!!

OHHHH here it is - way down just before the ; Disclaimer

Still kinda vague as all get go - but sorta makes sense .

If you bought a Mac and did NOT buy Apple care - then your Pro-Care is only good for one year . So seems mine is good for 3 years or the life of my extended warranty period . I don't need to spend 99 bucks every year

I read Pro Care document again and it says "ProCare will be valid for one year from the date of purchase. " There does not appear to be a ProCare extended coverage lumped with an AppleCare package in the document.

Re: 27" iMacs showing up on Apple refurb store now - 01/03/10 11:44 AM

Rats

Okay just got off the horn to Apple Store

Pro care is only good for 1 year with or without the extended Apple care

Now this means if you don't have to bring your Mac in constantly like once a month - then Pro care is a rip . In fact I only brought the 24 in once and thats when I bought the Pro Care - To get bump up in line , which did happen

So unless you have 3 macs that are still under warranty the 99 bucks is not worth it - unless the line bump is that important to ya

Since we've been reading up on this stuff, I decided the One on One program is a better deal that might interest me more. When I was working, I liked taking classes, etc. But now they're too expensive.

Yeah , DLC - David
Likes the one on one lessons and recommends those . I never tried those and maybe I should ?

The Pro care is a good thing if the bump in the line is what you want - for me I cannot have my Mac off line for a long period of time a day or 2 at the max .

Anyway
Sorta a crap shoot , take yer chances . You may never need it but spent the bucks , like insurance .
