AAPL / PE ratio - 03/31/08 01:06 PM

Apple has biggest impact on world consumers

This quote sums up my feelings too.

"
Discussing Apple, one anonymous reader said there was "never a dull moment" with the company "reinventing itself all along and providing, over and over again, a new perspective on what we thought was carved in stone."

While PE/ratio may be important , as an investor I'm more inclined to look at the research and development aspects of a company. What can they bring to the table next year or 10 years down the road? Apple is rising fast because it is leading the way. They are innovators and don't stand still when they come up with a new product. They are constantly improving. A company that sits back on their laurels is doomed in the long run, specially a tech company. Companies like Microsoft will go the way of the dinosaur if they don't smarten up. MS might look finer on paper with a better PE ratio but their shares reflect the reality. They have been flat as a pancake for ages.

a lot of investors love having MSFT because that stock pays pretty darn good dividends. so even if it isn't rising, it's still generating $$$ for investors.

AAPL has risen rapidly over the past 2 weeks. while they are way off of their 52 week high, that high was very artificial. i was hoping that AAPL might get to 150 by the end of the year when they were at 120. now, they are nearing that point. i'd be wary of jumping in now that the stock is trading for $30/share over their low less than 1 month ago. the price has gone up pretty quickly. on the other hand, the momentum on the stock appears to maybe be shifting back to more buyers than sellers:

that's often a sign of a nice steady rise ahead. hmmm.
