Recycle Bin Wierdness

What's up with this!? There's nothing in the Recycle Bin when I open it, but the icon says there is, and when I say to empty it, it asks me that! WHAT is going on!?

Well since you have the means to reinstall everything I'd push the button.

But I just reinstalled! Less than a week ago! I'm confused. I get what you mean, but why would I want to do that!?

To see what happens.

I don't wanna see what happens! It might screw up the whole computer! Is there any other way to fix it?

If you set the window options to show invisibles can you see the Windows folder in there? Maybe it got moved accidentally, or maybe it's just a copy. Without having any details as to what went on before it's hard to say.

Nothing went on before. and nothing shows up when I make it show the hidden files. (wait, is it my background? *sarcasm*)

Usually when this happens the recycle bin directory is corrupted, or there is a piece of spyware in there. Empty the bin (you'll get an error), then reboot the machine in safe mode. Empty the bin then if it's not empty, and reboot into regular mode. Should take care of it.

Regular user can't move the windows folder to the trash anyway.

I'm scanning the computer with AVG. Hopefully it'll see something. How do you boot into Safe Mode?

I emptied it. NOTHING happened! I'll check in safe mode too.

Yes! I would definitely delete Windows!

but what about my BSoD problem? Everyone has seemed to ignore it.

I don't do Windows. Someone who does will drive by eventually. Is there a pattern or are they simply random?

It seems to do it when I try to upload to YouTube. Mostly. Sometimes it's random.

Did it BSoD before you re-installed?

If so you can test your RAM. Go here and click Free Downloads to download an ISO to boot off of to test your RAM. Unzip it then you can burn the ISO to a CD on OS X using Disk Utility, or on Windows if you have burning software installed.

You'll have to Google to find out how to get to the boot menu to boot from the CD if it doesn't automatically do it.

That's the first place I'd start anyway if it does it in random programs.

I don't have a CD to burn to, and it mainly does it when I try to upload to YouTube.

I wanted to go back to a restore point, and it tries- and fails. I wonder why?

You're in Dell hell.

Are you able to choose a day to restore to? What happens when it fails, what cryptic message does it give?

I know I am and Yes, I can choose a day. And all it does is boots back up, and it says that no changes were made.

Maybe because there were no changes in system files? Unless you installed something that modified the system I don't think it would have to restore anything.

I need to see if restoring it will help Window's acting weird.

Since you are only a day or so into a fresh system, maybe reinstall again? But take it slow in modifying anything. Do the updates required but don't go adding any modifications to the interface, wall paper, cursors or whatever. Run the stock system for a few days (not hours) and see how it goes. Of course you'll need to download Flash and stuff like that, but be careful what you add on, only essentials, if in doubt ask.

Download Firefox only and use it.

If it still acts weird from a clean system then you need to trouble shoot the hardware, starting with RAM.

If you do reinstall start a new thread for it, this one's getting long.
