Woo hoo... more ram!

Woo hoo... more ram! - 04/16/09 06:40 PM

Ram is sooo cheap these days.. I picked up 4 gigs of ram for 82.00
(2) 2 sticks.. for weird total of 9 gigs.
Now those pesky 1+ gig files won't be holding me up in PS anymore! grin

Is this the right config for max benefit?

I'm not sure if this is applicable to your Mac Pro but this is what I used...

Where did you get ram so cheap?
I know I have an outdated 1.8 G5, but the usual places sell 2 gigs for that price.
Good deal!

From here..

http://www.transintl.com/

I have bought from them before .. no issues. Also, this is one of those sites you will see recommended for mac users on various sites.

I always use this site.

I just choose who has it cheapest that day, usually Omni or 18004memory, sometimes Crucial.

It doesn't matter who you get it from, RAM is RAM is RAM.

You'll probably be right 98 percent of the time.
When memory for the Mac Pros first came out, some of the modules had heat sink issues.
One time I bought memory from a vendor (I forget which one) for my iBook. I started getting kernel panics. I sent the memory back and asked for their more expensive memory...problem solved.

My favorite vendor is OWC.

Yep. and Transintl was one of the only companies to not have heat issues.. which is how I came to know them.
