OS X Mavericks Seed Invitation

OS X Mavericks Seed Invitation - 08/05/13 06:31 PM

So I got an invite from Apple (If it really is Apple), to Beta test Mavericks.
I have one partition with Snow Leopard for legacy software, and the other is Mountain Lion.
I do use my home computer for freelance, but it's not as critical as my work computer.
I was going to upgrade when it comes out anyway , soooooo…

Should I go for it?

Should I install on an external HD, or just overwrite Mountain Lion?

I would! But make really sure that the invite is from the mothership.

External or separate partition. I wouldn't overwrite your current system.

Meh.
Somehow, it's just not as exciting as it used to be.

Just a sign of age.

I mean maturity of computing platforms. Naturally.

Age? Maturity? Naturally?

I beg your pardon, Sir.
I BEG YOUR PARDON!

Edit: Not sure where I remember that quote from, but I can assure you, it had nothing to do with a Rose Garden.

That's some good sleuthing Kate, but I was thinking more along the lines of the Marx Brothers, not a criminal trial. smile

Ya know, six? I think you may be right!
So not only did I make a bad joke, I got the line and source wrong too.
I'm on a roll! grin

So nothing noticeably different than Mt Lion or whatever I'm on now? Are you able to get the updates that they release to the developers?

Re: OS X Mavericks Seed Invitation - 08/27/13 09:52 PM

Yep, but I think I spend more time updating new releases than actually using it.
I didn't transfer any 3rd party apps, so I still have to spend most of my time in Mountain Lion.
There are definite improvements, but I've been sworn to secrecy. wink

I'm still wondering why they like you and not me. cry

I wasn't invited.

You can tell us, we won't tell anybody, except the bots. grin

Re: OS X Mavericks Seed Invitation - 09/16/13 07:23 PM

The only problem is, I installed it clean on a partition. A lot of my 3rd party apps don't work unless I install them to Mavericks. I'm waiting until final release, and then I'm going to wipe the HD and start from scratch.
Ima skeered. grin
I remember the Snow Leopard days when I would click on an app in the dock, and it loads before the first bounce.
Seems to be happening again.
Edit: I'm "special" LOL!

Special? Special?!?! The one-eyed wonder you are.

Special? Nope. Not until I earn a Pooh Bah hat.

Re: OS X Mavericks Seed Invitation - 10/21/13 07:28 PM

Welp.
Threw common sense out the door today, and updated my work machine to the latest GM Mavericks.
Everything seems to be working fine, except 3rd party plugins.
Hopefully they will update without charging. LOL!
Safari is noticeably faster, maps are a great addition, notifications and sharing are working well, but otherwise, it's the same OS we all know and love.
Now that it is what I'll be using it every day, I hope to find the little things that make it better.
Backup and good luck!
See you tomorrow!

Any clue as to when it'll be available for the 99%?

None whatsoever.
The so called "Golden Master" changed again this week.
Today's Monday. whistle
