What's the easiest way to download YouTube videos - 11/05/12 09:43 PM

It seems the right click exercise on the video doesn't work anymore. I'm using a downloader by Xilisoft but I don't like it much. Any suggestions?

Tubesock is one. It's $20 but they have a Demo.

There's Jaksta. It downloads all sorts of streaming stuff and converts it. The Demo version does youtube stuff for free, any other media is limited to 50% of the clip.

TubetV is a free one, http://www.chimoosoft.com/products/ but I can't get to the website right now.

I use something called iSkySoft Youtube Downloader. It can cost some money, but only if you want to convert the .flv file. If the software isn't paid, then conversion will give the video a watermark. But if you're happy with the .flv, then it will download and keep the video for you without marking it.

I have a YouTube downloader extension for Safari, Chrome & Firefox. They're free and work perfectly. A quick search on the appropriate download sites should bring up plenty of options.

I thought that would be fine. But, here's what I get using iSkySoft:

And they only play using iSkySoft's player. I would prefer a .flv file!

I've already spent hours trying to do what used to be easy and I'm getting too old for this crap (and really fed up with Apple). wink
