Java gonna be dropped by Apple?

Java gonna be dropped by Apple? - 10/20/12 07:28 PM

I read earlier this morning that Apple is going to drop Java from its browsers when they update Mac system os.

Then on a HufPo page I got a Java error message/warning.

Then I checked OS system software update under the menu apple and found a Java update for the sys software I am currently using.

It is all somewhat mystifying for me but I just bumble along.

Installed the sys os java update. Again, got the error message in Firefox.

I had not checked Safari or Chrome to see if they had that error message before I updated sys, but after update, they had no error message.

I like FF and don't want to think about switching to another browser, so I guess I'll bite the bullet and put up with its quirks. wink

It's not directing you to Oracle for the latest JAVA plugin/runtime?

I have come across two sites that don't play well with FF and the latest Flash Player plugin, too. One of those sites doesn't work with Safari either. Other Flash enabled sites are working just fine.

The tech-world is a better place without Java, IMO.
