VLC could die

Needs Mac devs to continue:

All work on the Mac version of VLC may soon have to come to a halt, says VideoLAN.

Should this also be in the Programming section? You know, just for the exposure?

Thanks to the "man behind the curtain" for moving this. Is this Kansas?

Noooooooooooooooooo!! I hope that some developers step up and let VLC continue on.

Doesn't surprise me. Open source software has one huge drawback. No money, no guarantees.

Ok, this cannot happen!

For one thing, it would destroy Handbrake and FairMount...

I rarely use VLC, but it has come in handy for that rare video file that nothing else will open.

I use it, and it might sound convoluted, but here is how.

I have EyeTV and watch DirecTV progs on my 24 inch iMac. If I open VLC I can "capture" the EyeTV picture and watch using VLC.

Why would I do that? Well, VLC has losts more bells and whistles for controlling the view and sound of the EyeTV reception.

Man, I hope not! I use it a lot!

I use VLC for all of my media. I would hate it to see it go away.

Handbrake uses VLC to break the CSS encryption on DVDs. (it used to do it by itself, but they stripped that out).

Well rats! DVDRemaster uses FairMount so maybe VLC will affect DVDR too?
