Flash cookies - 09/21/10 04:51 PM

I don't usually refer to emails I've received, but this one seems to me pretty important, so here's the story about Flash cookies that disturbed me. There are links for software to solve the problem at the end of the story.

That's interesting. but may be just another alarmist type of article.I didn't find the following at the root directory on my machine, but in the Library in my Home folder. Not sure what the cookies are named, though.
Mac OS X: For Web sites, ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/FlashPlayer

I ran the software that's on that page and it cleared out about a thousand Flash cookies. They're there all right.

What? You mean when I click on a link somebody knows I've been there? shocked
I have no problem with cookies. We really shouldn't regulate how websites make money by marketing. Websites take money to run so targeting the right audience to enhance revenues is a good thing. Flash cookies have been around since Flash so I go along with the alarmist end of all of this.

And if you don't want anyone to know where you've been don't go there. blush
Also, I knew that already. I clean the Macromedia folder out if Flash is loading slow or something. smile
