This appears that it should work on my PB 1400 to get at its files and photos. Yes? No?

D-Link Network Adapter - DFE-690TXD
PC Card Type II - 1 x RJ-45 - 10/100Base-TX

It states that drivers for Mac OS 8 and 9 are included. 8.6 is installed on the PB.

Make sure File Sharing in the Control Panels has a check box for TCP/IP sharing or you will have to install an Extension for it, I thinks it's "ShareWay IP Personal Bgnd".

I still think I remember networking my G4 with OS X and my wife's iMac with OS 9 that way.

Wouldn't it be easier to just take the hard drive out and put it in a case? Seems like you would get more use out of a cheap case, rather than buying the card.

Unless you have another use for the card/adapter.

The card was only $4 (and didn't work in the old machine). The HD in the PowerBook is SCSI, so getting an enclosure for that would be near impossible these days. The ZIP drive module works and I got a USB external ZIP drive for cheap, so I can transfer the needed files. cool
