excited? i had no clue there was a paris keynote coming up...i guess i should read the news page more often.

[color:blue] -sean
The keynote starts at 4:00 a.m. eastern time. There is no word yet on a QuickTime stream of the event. And, yes Sean, you do need to read the front page more .
I think he will introduce a Powermac G5 with dual 2GHz processors and 1 GHz front side bus. Boy, I bet the pre orders for that will go through the roof!

/2.5 months of bitter sarcasm

As Jobs has finally made it over to Europe (wonder if he had to check on a map to see where it was, it's been so long?), maybe he has a Europe-specific announcement; a Euro-based iTunes Music Store, or more likely an iPhoto printing/book tie-in with Kodak. The latter is not particularly important, but it would reassure us European types that Apple is not as US-centric as it often appears. After all the lowest priced G5 offered by the UK Apple Store is £1,318 ($2,107), before tax, compared to $1,999. We pay our way in more than just OS and brand loyalty.

Whingeing Brits, never met one!

Although unfortunately this doesn't seem to be unique to Apple, from what i hear most electronics are more expensive in Europe then in the US. But i haven't exactly been shopping in Europe recently either so i could be mistaken.

Well, he better put out some new Powerbooks or he might as well not come home! I think there would be some people out to get him.

The online store order status has been down for about 4-5 hours now. During that time some people have received shipping notifications for their dual G5s! Yipeee!

I wonder if Steve G already cancelled his order?

Crap, already on to Panther. I was hoping he might have some positive news about all the G5 preorders...
Edited by Trog on 09/16/03 04:32 AM (server time).

I think the prices are euros ie. € not $, as the show is in paris, though they are close in terms of exchange rate.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman

Yeah, i think they are very close to a 1:1 exchange, the real difference is in the market value in the US vs. Europe.

Edit: $69 in the US
Edited by greenme1 on 09/16/03 05:37 AM (server time).

Well, it's been a pleasure spamming you with keynote updates as copy and pasted form MacRumors. And as other kids wake up, i shall retire for the night.... and it's off to bed for me.

Edit: Apple Store back up.
Edited by greenme1 on 09/16/03 05:35 AM (server time).

That was quite possibly the most boring show in recent history. A KB & Mouse that everyone who has been on the "Mac Internet" knew about over a month ago, and the PowerBook that everyone knew was coming, a rehash of the press-release on Panther, and no excuses/explanations for the G5... Glad I didn't stay up for that.

I agree about the PBs, Mike--those new 15" ones look mighty tempting.

A word of warning to greenme, though: you keep doing this, young man, and Stan is gonna ban you from the forums for upstaging his own reporting

Alas, poor Yorick. -- Hamlet

Do you know, that as a joke I started doing that (keynote updates) on Apple's discussion board last night and I got banned!

No lie, they sent me an email explaining it and now I can't access the discussions page for the G5. LOL!

The Apple forums aren't there for fun, they're there for troubleshooting and discussing things directly related to the use of the Mac and it's software. I don't agree with the way the freely delete posts (and entire threads), but I can see their point - many "newbie" users go there for help, and they shouldn't have to sift through the daily "Bush sucks" type of posts.
