What system are you using?

If it's X, you might want to log on as root (once you log on that way you have the power of God over your computer, so don't do anything but delete that file, unless you know what you're doing). If you don't have root access turned on, go to the Apple support page and type in root--it'll take you to the instructions.

If you're on 9.x, start up from a bootable CD and see if that allows you to delete the file.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

What about trying one of those 'shredding' utilities? Norton has one, I think it is called Wipe Info. Might be worth trying.

Also, even if you always use OS9, if you just have the ability to boot into OSX and login as root (as mentioned above) you should be able to delete anything!

If that does not work I have had a similar problem before and it was because the file was corrupt so I just repaired the disk with tech tool and the file disapeared.

Without sensibility no object would be given to us, without understanding no object would be thought. Burn 2.5 is a great program that will delete anthing securely and without hesitation, locked files or even in use files. you can also set it to wipe a file with 1-35 passes for absolute unrecoverability. free space erasing is also an option. you can find it here. have fun.

SuperGetInfo, which is shareware but which you can use for a while without paying, has a mega delete option that might do the trick.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"
