Any particular reason you don't like the DW logo? I think it's nice. It's easy to recognize in the dock when the icons all get nice and tiny.

Except for Safari and iTunes, I'm not nuts about most of the Apple ones. Don't like Mail and I don't like HD icons provided by Apple. URL Manager Pro has got to be about the ugliest app logo I've ever seen though. I even went in and edited the resources so I wouldn't have to look at it:

When it gets really small, all that detail crap just turns into nothing. Too many colors, shapes and crap going on.

** sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn **

To me, the DW icon is too cartoonish, and is unbecoming of a pro app that costs $400.

In my professional designer's opinion, I think ICONS should be somewhat cartoonish. Think international signage and you have the same thing that icons should be. Stripped down pictograms that are immediately distinguishable and easy to read from near or far (in the case of OS HCI that would be large or small).

The new developer guidelines that Apple has where they say to make them more realistic and photographic is not a good guideline.

Besides, that dreamweaver "d" icon is only cartoonish because it imitates the Apple Aqua button interface. I think it's consistent and fits the OS well. Just my 2¢

** sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn **
