What's up in India? Are you risking your life right now as the US suggests (by withdrawing Americans from the region), or is this just Dubnut's first step in marching US troops into India for your 'protection'?

Do you rhumba? Excellent! Now pick a rhumba and sit down.. GM
Well, there's every chance of a war starting, so, US, UK and the others are being protective of their citizens.

I am VERY sure that the US will not be allowed to "protect."

--
I am Dyslexic of Borg. Fusistance is retile. Your a$$ will be laminated.
Thanks for the update Vijay,

Seriously though, what's the mood on the street. Are you packing, or do you think this is being blown out of proportion?

Do you rhumba? Excellent! Now pick a rhumba and sit down.. GM
this is an interesting thread. very nice to have someone who can give a report that isn't tainted by trying to sell a story. vijay, i truly hope the best for you during these times and am sorry that you are living through these events.

i've been reading about the the rising tensions and noticed that this is receiving very little attention from our media. this has been playing out (increased tensions) for quite a while and the israeli/palestenian issue has overshadowed india/pakastan. only very recently has the india/pakastan issue received some coverage.

i am interested in hearing more from vijay on the matter.

[color:blue] -sean
Packing? ROTFLMAO! I wouldn't pack my a$$ even if there's a nuclear weapon headed straight to Madras.

This is partly blown up and partly grave, and part of it is also for political reasons and penis waving by both countries.

I mean really, the countries with brains already know that majority of the terrorists come from Pakisthan. And all these speeches by Musharraf about him being peace loving and crap is just blowing smoke. The next day he announces that if Indian soldiers come into Pakisthan by even one inch, he will unleash a storm which will take the enemy swiftly in their own territory (That's a threat for launching nukes).

And people talk about nukes as if it's everyday gossip.

Majority of Indians (We are talking about 1 Billion people) aren't even aware of the situation and are happily and innocently carrying on with their lives. Both educated and eneducated people. And the ones who are panicky are truly clueless. Sure, anything can happen.

India wants to turn the world's attention to Kashmir and also cut a deal with the US on the way. Pakisthan (Musharraf) meanwhile is putting up the innocent virgin act. "We will never go to war. We are peace loving people." Yeah Right, the Kargil war in 1999 was initiated by them.

Lets make it clear that I have nothing against people of any nationality or religion. Whether they are Pakisthanis or Muslims, I don't care. It is terrorists, fundamentalists and religious bigots who I am against, both inside and outside India. But sometimes, I think we need a piece of everything to balance things. The world isn't a field of poppy seeds. (um yeah, that poem by that poet, Robert something)

--
I am Dyslexic of Borg. Fusistance is retile. Your a$$ will be laminated.
Good sean be great to hear Vijay on this one.

My understanding is that Kashmir is predominant Pakistani "muslem" but the region is India.

So its like saying that Florida is mostly Cuban so it should belong to Cuba.

Mine is simple but Pakistan has all sorts of claims and so does India.

well, the analogy falls apart when you get to the question i asked, "where do the people who live there want to be (india or pakistan)? if you ask people in florida, my guess is that less than 1% would want to be a part of cuba.

i do agree with you...it isn't an easy issue to resolve or they wouldn't be on the brink of war.

[color:blue] -sean
What I heard over CNN was that the people of the region being mostly muslem claimed that they are not being treated fairly under Hindu laws. So they the mojoriety feel that they would be better off under muslem laws "Pakistan"

Thats CNN, Vijay has a closer look.

In reply to:

its like saying that Florida is mostly Cuban so it should belong to Cuba.

Being of the Cuban persuasion myself, I think most Cubans in Miami would say that since there are so many Cubans in the area, Cuba should belong to the US.
