I'm home today with a stiff neck waiting to get into the chiropractor and I just happened to catch the ceremony at Ground Zero. No words. They rang the fallen firefighters bell. An honor guard escorted the flag draped empty stretcher representing the 1711 victims not recovered or unidentified. The march of the 3 agency Pipe & Drum Corps up the ramp out of the pit. Then the last beam, also flag draped rode on the truck up the ramp to the sounds of a 3 trumpet "Echo Tap". A group of helicoptors flying in formation, overhead. A solemn moment in time. The drums sure have a haunting echo. *sniff*

Cheers, iRock
MSNBC had clips of it and I'd guess they will rebroadcast them.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

It was live this morning and the fallen firefighters bell was rung at the moment the second tower collapsed.(NY time) I'm sure there will be coverage on all the network news this evening and if you get the Headline News channel or CNN there wil be coverage.

Cheers, iRock
9 months after 9/11 and people are still shedding tears? I don't understand. It happened, it is history now. Let's always remember it indeed, but move on.

Well... when I see someone reliving the sorrow they were engulfed in on that day... it's hard for me not to get a little choked up. And... I'm a heartless bastard. Hard to imagine you being so disconnected to the rest of the world...

I really didn't think I would, but the sight of all those sad faces and the enormity of pain this caused came rushing back. After all these people were just going about business as usual with no connection to the terrorists. But for the grace of God it could be any of us or our family.

Cheers, iRock
I think that's true for the nation generally, Mike, but not for the people whose lives were directly affected by the event. As a comparison, my step-father, who fought in the East Asian theater in WW II (India, Burma, Thailand, etc.) was still having nightmares about it when he married my mother in 1967.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"
