Sure having fun this weekend. One son helped clean off the roof eaves and then took a lot of moss off the rest. Now I've heard that sprinkling Tide on the top will help rid me of the rest??

Today the other son, friend and I played in my friends creek up by her cabin and threw rocks around looking for flat ones to make stepping stones so we could get to the other side. Except for the pretty bugs with a thousand legs, that was a blast too.

Now it is almost time for a family gathering for 10th birthday of grandsons. Everybody will talk too much and too loud and have such fun. I love it! It is worth all the growing pains of raising kids to be able to sit back and enjoy them as adults.

The rain is coming down at a time when it will be good to be inside anyway. Hope you all had fun this holiday weekend and are safe and sound.

Kate

I think the original (or anyway the attributed original) is Mark Twain, speaking of New England: "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute." Of course, I can't find it in a dictionary of quotations, so who knows.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

Did a search via Watson... never found what we've all heard, but did find a couple from Twain.

Copy/Paste:

I reverently believe that the Maker who made us all makes everything in New England but the weather. I don't know who makes that, but I think it must be raw apprentices in the weather-clerk's factory who experiment and learn how...
