Gizmo posted this link in MC, and I tried out the shareware.

http://www.fi.muni.cz/~xpridal/mplayerosx/

It works great, but with a few catches.

1. The software doesn't stay open, so everytime you wish to view an AVI, you must wait a few bounces to activate.

2. It would be sweet if you could drag and drop an AVI to activate it. Instead, you must navigate it.

3. Once activated, your terminal opens and spews a bunch of stuff. This would be okay, but once you've watched the AVI, the spew window is still open and needs to be disguarded.

I didn't read closely enough to see if by donating a little something you could streamline this process so that the program stays open, doesn't open the Terminal and spew window, etc. I doubt it, or they'd probably give you little reminders.

Still, AVI's on OS X.. no prob Bob. Makes me wonder if QT6 will be able to do this,

NTO1

Do you rhumba? Excellent! Now pick a rhumba and sit down.. GM

Well, I understand from a friend of mine that QT6 has problems with avi files encoded with MS MPEG2 or 4 (I can't remeber which) - fine picture, but horribly stuttering sound ...

hopefully the release version will fix this =)

***matt
